| Gallery of European Rubbings | | |  | Sir Ralph & Elizabeth Verney The Verney monument is located in Aldbury, Hertfordshire and dates to 1547. The heraldic insignia gives a unique aspect to these beautiful brasses.
This rubbing shows the pair together. It is done in gold, silver,& copper, on black backgound.The rubbing has been vacuum mounted, has a black mat, and a narrow gold wood frame measuring 24"x34". |  | Sir William Septvans. This brass is a fine example of the surcoat period. The lion at the knight's feet symbolizes courage & nobility. The original brass measures almost 7 feet and this reduced version is 16 x 40 inches. Rubbing is black, gold, & blue on white background in a black wood frame. |  | Sir Roger De Trumpington. One of the oldest brasses in England portrays the Knight in armor of the surcoat period. The dog at his feet symbolizes fidelity. This 16 x 40 rubbing is a reduced version of the original almost 7 foot brass.
The gold on black rubbing has been vacuum mounted and has a mat of marbleb black & gold. |  | Sir Roger & Lady Elizabeth Bellingham. These beautiful brasses were originally engraved in 1553, but the Parish Church was extensively restored in the 19th century at which time the original brasses were restored in a Victorian concept. The 2 brasses are rubbed in black on white paper, then mounted on a rust background and matted together, framed in wood. 30 x 40 |  | Sir John & Maude De Foxle. Sir John wears the armor of the Jupon period. Lady Maud is his first wife and the heraldic lion embroidered on her garb shows that she is of noble birth. The 2 brasses are rubbed in black, gold, & copper on a white background and framed singly in wood frames to be displayed as a pair. 12 x 36 each. |
